Show Off - Fashion Exhibition - UCLAN- 9am - 5pm - 16/1/19 - 31/1/19

~A person who deliberately does something sensational to impress others isn’t generally a popular person. But a group of young people who seek to celebrate the work of others is given a more generous title such as thoughtful and considerate.

From Wednesday 16th - Thursday 31st January comes an exhibition which coincides with the recent 2019 edition of Show Off magazine. It will take place between the hours of 9am - 5pm at UCLAN’S PR1 Gallery at the Victoria Building, Preston Campus.

 The work on display is designed by Year 2 fashion promotion students. The magazine has been produced by the students in five succinct ways :-

• The planning and execution of photo shoots
• The written content
• Artwork
• Graphic design
• The preparation and staging of the  exhibition.

Activist and sports legend Martina Navratilova had these brief but profound words, “labels are for clothes, not for people.” Taking inspiration from this, the students made a conscious decision not to name the 12 issue of Show Off.

After much  thought and consideration the students all agreed to celebrate people regardless of  their gender, political stance, sexual orientation, race or religion. Their collective vision is to inspire  visitors to the exhibition and readers of the magazine, to be themselves and to push the boundaries of what is considered to be the ‘norm’.

The private view will take place on Tuesday 22 January from 5.30pm-8.00pm and all are welcome to attend. The event is free to attend and no booking is required.
