Family History Friday - Lancashire Archives - Preston - 10am - 4pm - 14/12/18
Dec, 10 2018
~At this time of year many people sadly come out in a terrible state after a works night out and have no recollection the following morning. On a more positive note other people use it as a time to spend with the family, yet at the dinner table there could be one or two conflicts. It’s then when you decide to lock yourself away and indulge in a little historical findings of your old ancestors in an attempt to find some peace of mind amidst your current family bickering.
The Lancashire Archives in Bow Lane, Preston, has documents to retrace your family tree and for one day they are opening it up to a wider domain for people to learn more.
Family History Friday takes place this Friday 14th December 2018. The days begins at 10am and concludes at 4pm. Admission is completely free.
Here is a complete overview of what you will learn and discover on the day :-
- 10am - 12pm: Get free advice and help with your family history problems from members of the Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society.
- 12.30pm: Listen to a talk on a source you may not have considered for your family history - Poll books and electoral registers for family historians given by James Towe.
- 2.30pm: Anybody new to Lancashire Archives can join a "getting to know" session to learn more about the archive's collections and how to use the service.
In addition to the above you may wish to do some personal research in the search room which is open as usual between the hours of 9.30am- 5pm.
