~Poetic words have the ability to inspire and influence us in a thought provoking way. When a dance performance complements the poetic notion the results are amazing. Lighting up a dimly lit room with power and passion as the performers dance through the moving words that resonate straight to the heart.

‘Still I Rise’ is an acclaimed piece of poetry by the well known poet Maya Angelou. It is a message of resilience to those that may undermine or belittle our abilities with the defining thought  to keep on  fighting.

‘We Rise’ is a dance performance which lifts aspects of Maya’s classic piece of poetry into a unique work of performance art. It is in association with ‘Tribe Company’ and is scheduled to be performed on Wednesday May 9th from 12.30pm -1.30pm at UCLAN’S Victoria Building.

Watch as talented dance students skilfully interpret Maya Angelou’s ‘Still I Rise’ into a highly physical and emotive dance. The words beautifully fit the contemporary world as they connect and relate to people of all ages, no matter what colour, creed,  sexuality or nationality.
