Jools Holland Gig - Blackburn King Georges - 14/7/18

Mar, 26 2018

~30 years ago many 80’s bands were just finding their feet  and, over a number of years evolved to take on a larger force and one that was much grander in scale in terms of sound and musical direction.

In 1987, Jools Holland ( popular broadcaster and musician) had already grafted some years with the band Squeeze and now had new ambitions on a big band scale.

He continued his new musical quest with former Squeeze bandmate Gilson Lavis. Over time the The Jools Holland Big Band finally lived up to it’s name when it recruited a 19 -piece set of musicians. This consisted of a pianist, organist, drummer, three female vocals, guitar, bass guitar, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets, and three trombones.

Now in 2018 it has evolved to become “ Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra”. The good news is he is performing with his ensemble cast at the Blackburn King Georges Hall on Saturday 14th July. Doors open 7pm. Tickest are priced between £36 - £42. Please note :- The venue reserves the right to charge an administration fee for tickets purchased via the box office. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult 18+. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the box office on :- 01254 582 579.

The King Georges Hall is located at Northgate, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2, 1AA. It is sat amongst a thriving college and busy market place. You will also find excellent places to eat and drink.

As well as being a formidable musician Jools is also an excellent broadcaster and his long running series as paved the way for new and existing talent. Look out for the new series coming soon on BB2, ‘Later with Jools Holland’.

The 14th July gig will include special guests Pauline Black and Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson from The Selecter. They will be performing a selection of tunes with Jools and the band.

Enjoy a boogie woogie style summer sensation :-
