~The Caribbean is a region that is home to  Spanish, French, Dutch and many more. It’s ethnic groups range from afro-Caribbean to Indonesian and it is the birth place of a well known poet.

With her distinct ability to blend in  serious subjects and her thoughtful delivery, Malika Booker is one of the Caribbean’s most established writers and performance poets.

In 2007 she confirmed her importance and high class reputation with the one woman show ‘Unplanned’. By 2013 her collection of original work ‘Pepper Seed’ was short-listed for the Seamus Heaney Award. In 2016 she judged the Forward Prizes, one of Britain’s most coveted poetry awards. Then in 2017 she was short listed herself for the Best Single Poem.

On Wednesday March 21st 2018  you are invited to ‘An Afternoon with Malika Booker :- Poetry, Performance and Publishing’. This will take place in the Harrington Building 127, Adelphi Street, UCLAN, Preston between 4.30pm - 6pm.

Yvonne Reddick will chair the afternoon as leading poet Malika will read a selection of her work and encourage all who attend how they can be as successful as she has been. It’s a free event so there’s no need to book.
All members of the public, students and staff welcome.

Watch and learn a dynamic poet on page and stage, as Booker deploys audience participation, Caribbean dialect and monologue to bring her poems to life.
