Dr. Sarita Robinson Talk - British Science Week - UCLAN - 7.30pm-9pm - 14/3/18

Mar, 13 2018

~Soldiers and army veterans have been equipped with a valuable mindset to help them cope with the most terrifying of situations. The fight or flight response can help an individual when experiencing a stressful encounter. This enables people such as soldiers to respond appropriately such as taking shelter or protecting themselves mentally from harm. The same principle is applied to humans who endure stress in either a school environment with bullies or in the workplace when feeling overwhelmed with the workload.

This Wednesday March 14th from 7.30pm - 9pm at the Scholars Suite, Foster Building, University of Central Lancashire, is an exciting talk which reflects on the above subject, simply titled ‘ You Can’t Give Tea from an Empty Cup’.

As part of British Science week 2018, Dr. Sarita Robinson will enlighten the audience in a comical  yet still  important discussion. Sarita is an expert in survival psychology so she knows exactly what weakens a person when they are at their most stressed. She will also explore her own personal mental health and what methods she uses to stay safe.

It is free to attend but you will have to register prior to the event to avoid disappointment. You can do this by accessing the UCLAN home page at www.uclan.ac.uk

Throughout the evening you may wish to buy refreshments. There is a licensed bar which will sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Please note this event is for adults 18+ only. For further information please email EngageUCLan@uclan.ac.uk.

You may wish to donate to Sarita’s own community development expedition with 1st Flodden B-P Scout Group to Lesotho, Southern Africa. This would be greatly appreciated.
