~When we think of Russia we often envisage it’s rich tapestry of the arts such as architecture, dance and film . It is also a country known for it’s ethnic dress, cuisine and religion. Russia’s music however sets it apart from other countries and it is often defined as the hallmark of it’s nation.
On Wednesday February 21st 2018 between 6-8pm you can experience a concert and lecture on Russian Music. It will take place at the Performance Studio at the Basement of St. Cecilia’s Building located at Cardinal Newman College on Larkhill Road, Preston.
The lecture will be delivered by two world leading, highly renowned musicians and prominent music scholars Mr. Cyrill Ibrahim and Elena Artamonova. It will develop the concept of Russian musical culture from the last 200 years from Glinka to the present day.
Prior to each performance there will be a brief educational introduction.
This will then be followed by a captivating concert featuring the leading speakers as they perform the viola and piano.
You can also experience live music from three other renowned Russian musicians, Mikhail Glinka, Alexander Grechaninov and Milii Balakirev.
