Jan, 24 2018

~Fake news. It appears to be the current trend reporting false information presented by the media. But what of genuine, real local news stories that matter to the  district of the North West of England.

The Bureau Local is a 475-strong network of journalists, techies, designers, concerned citizens, subject specialists, and more, using data to reach conclusive proof  that relate to the lives and individuals of Lancashire.

In association with Open Data Manchester and UCLAN comes this exciting day ‘ The Bureau for Investigative Journalism’ taking place on Saturday 3rd February 2018.

The day will include an investigative study of the budget data for each of England's 353 councils to find out what makes the cut - and what doesn't - ahead of the government's next set of funding decisions in March.

Help is required in making the budget accessible, understandable and something people might be able to act on. Perhaps you are a data scientist, analyst or wrangler, a storyteller, campaigner or designer. Your expert knowledge and specialist skills will greatly be appreciated and benefit the investigative research.
