Question Health Event UCLAN 6-8pm 26/1/18

Jan, 23 2018

~Each year people are becoming unwell from the world in general. This is due to many reasons. It could be their upbringing, their adult environment or a personal trauma in adolescence that has triggered a mental health condition. For many though it could simply be attending and studying a course at University. It would appear ironic then that an event aimed at highlighting the stigma and sensitivity that surrounds mental health is taking place at the local University here in Preston.

This Friday January 26th from 6pm-8pm is an event simply called, ‘Question Health’. It will take place at the Foster Building in the Mitchell and Kenyon Lecture Theatre at UCLAN.

In the style of the BBC’s Question Time, the event will be an opportunity to hear the expressions of concern, anger and even frustration that dominates the subject of mental health.

Students and staff in the UCLAN School of Medicine will input their thoughts and feelings focusing on crucial health and social care issues. It will be a televised discussion  and Friday marks the first in this exciting and enlightening event.

Television presenter and UCLAN Chancellor Ranvir Singh will be on hand to host the evening with an experienced panel to answer any questions or concerns that may have surfaced throughout the debate.

The panel will consist of local health experts,  clinicians and academics and  senior health service managers. They will be filmed and edited by
students studying BA (Hons) TV production and will be aired on television channel That’s Lancashire.

FREE PARKING will be available on all of the University's car parks for the duration of the event. Due to extensive building works to the front and rear of Foster Building, the nearest University car parks are: Roeburn car park (Pedder Street, PR2 2QQ) and C&T car park (Kirkham Street, off Fylde Road PR1 2XQ).

MITCHELL AND KENYON LECTURE THEATRE is at the front of Foster Building which is located on Kendal Street (at the top of Corporation Street, just off the Adelphi double roundabout).

If you would like to ask a question for the panel you can register online by visiting :- event brite.co.uk. Here you can  confirm your attendance for the evening. Themes for discussion include :- anxiety and depression, schizophrenia and bipolar, substance and alcohol abuse, dementia, and service provision.

Upon arrival, you will receive refreshments in the Foyer of the Foster Building. It’s a chance to socialise and network with like minded people who may also have  a mental health condition  or may know of someone who is undergoing therapy in the Preston locality.

Question Health will return for two more instalments. Dates and locations are yet to be confirmed but it will strongly focus on diabetes and heart disease, conditions some of us may suffer with at some point in our lives.

If you need answers on the subject of mental health then simply attend this event :-
