Jul, 3 2017

~Many who have attended a classical concert have spoken of the poignancy, the soft moving sounds of the violins and the wonderful environment in which to soak up the cultural experience.

This couldn’t be further from the truth than the ‘Blackburn Classics’ that have been entertaining classical enthusiasts at the King Georges Hall for many years. The Halle returns here on Friday 15th September 2017 at 7.30pm and they’ll be some  classical favourites for the  audience to enjoy.

Pablo Gonzalez will be conducting the orchestra who will be guiding us through some classics such as Rimsky- Korsakov’s eight minute epic ‘May Night Overture’.

Barry Douglas will also be on hand as pianist with a career spanning over thirty years. Back in 1986 Barry crystallised his career by winning the Gold Medal at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow so fans can rest assured, the concert is in the capable hands of Barry Douglas.

Prior to the concert there is the opportunity to enjoy both a pre-concert supper and a pre- concert talk. The supper is provided courtesy of Blakey’s ( just round the corner from the King Georges) with meals serving at 4.30pm. You can make a reservation for a meal by dialling 01254 582879 (Option 1).
