One Billion Rising Thank Yous

Feb, 15 2017

~Whilst some of us could have been buying that last minute Valentine gift and card or perhaps already spending time with our loved one, February 14th 2017 was very different for a series of pro-active dance enthusiasts in Preston yesterday.

The annual One Billion Rising took place at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre in which men, women, young and old danced collectively to the song ‘ Break the Chain’ for the fifth consecutive year.

Choreographed by dance expert Phil Kaila and leading a team of motivated individuals who seek and desire change to end the exploitation of women.

The CCG wishes to thank everyone involved from UCLAN staff and students to honorary fellows and community members. In addition the filming crew deserve a big accolade for capturing just under 5 minutes of dance perfection. Thank you to PR1 Media for filming this defining dance protest. You can view the film via You Tube by typing in ‘One Billion Rising Preston 2017’.

The events continue right up until 8th March 2017 culminating in International Women’s Day which will focus on Women Workers in all their spaces of work.

Once again, thank you to everybody who contributed yesterday in what has been described as monumental in terms of it’s awareness and growth over the past few years. See you all in 2018!
