~Having established a career within the mental health and social work sector and using his knowledge to work effectively in voluntary roles Mr. Morris has seriously worked his  craft over many years of endurance and perseverance. As an expert in his field of work, Greater London’s Professor David Morris is the focus in this week’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’.

As well as voluntary roles, David has been a key figure in social work and management of mental health services in social care. He has devoted time in statutory positions, central and local  government initiatives, social care, health and academia.

From 2004 -2009 He was the Director of the Cross government National Institute for Mental Health in England. The following four years ( 2009-2013) saw him holding a Visiting Academic Associate post in the Health Service and Population Research Department of the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London.

In addition to mental health and academic pursuits, David became founder to a series of programmes in the field of inclusion and health equalities. He has also made considerable difference both nationally and internationally in a range of advisory and consultative roles to the development of policy and practice on social inclusion.

At present (2017) David Morris is a professor of mental health, inclusion and Community in the School of Social Work at  UCLAN in Preston and Director of the Centre for Citizenship and Community, a collaboration with the RSA and the Royal Society for Public Health.
