Ruby Wax :- Frazzled 6/3/17 7.30pm Preston Charter Theatre
Jan, 4 2017
~Comedy is sometimes described as the best antidote to cope with your problems, and when your problems affect your mental health there’s no better expert to deal with such common issues than American’s finest, the great Ruby Wax.
Born on 19th April 1953, she started out in the 1970s as a classically trained actress.Throughout the 1980s she developed into a comic interviewer discussing hot topics in her often controversial style technique which she replicated in the TV sitcom Girls on Top.
The next twenty years or so found her working for the BBC interviewing major public figures and being asked to appear as a cameo in top BBC programmes such as Absolutely Fabulous and the biennial charity fundraiser Comic Relief.
It’s her other role though as a mental health campaigner that bears particular attention. Having experienced her own personal breakdown with depression she has candidly worked with many mental health charities over many years.
2013 saw the publication of her book ‘Sane New World’ which became a number 1 best-seller followed by "A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled" published in January 2016.
Two years ago (2015) she was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to mental health. Now on Monday 6th March 2017 you can see this talented lady perform a stand up show entitled ‘Frazzled’, a slight reference to her 2016 publication.
She is performing at the Charter Theatre in Preston at 7.30pm. You can book online or by dialling :- 01772 80 44 44.
The Guild Hall and Charter Theatre is based at Lancaster Road, Preston, Lancashire. Set amidst a thriving city and a nest of cafes and restaurants as you enter the Preston Guild Hall.
Funny and insightful, this event is a passport to saner living, if there really is one!
