Go West This October At The Guild Hall

~If a band in the 1980s wanted clear direction and assurance of success they would have to have a unique pop sound with some great singles to boot. Songs such as debut single ‘We Close our Eyes’. Or the following three infectious hits ‘Call me’ ‘ Goodbye Girl’ and ‘Don’t Look Down’. Evidently down would be going south and this was a band that was progressing not regressing.

True, the obvious name spawned by members Peter Cox and Richard Drummie had to be ‘Go West’. This was also the title track of their debut album which sold 2 million copies and remained in the UK charts for 83 weeks. Making them one of the 1980s most successful song writing partnerships.

Their pop sound was to make a resurgence ion the 1990s with songs such as ‘Faithful’ and the title track from the film Pretty Woman ‘ King of Wishful Thinking’, which scooped up awards in 1991 and became the most played song on USA radio in 1992.

Over twenty years later and fans from their 80s heyday got to relive the memories in 2013 with a successful tour with 80s contemporaries Hue and Cry and The Christians.

The three years following their recent tour they’re back and they’re about to remind Prestonians why they’re so talented both musically and lyrically, creating pop brilliance and feel good songs to the delight of their fans.
