~In the mid 90’s comedy series ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ we see how one man, Gary Sparrow (played by Nicholas Lyndhurst ) experienced a time portal which saw him travel back in time to London during the Second World War. He then had  to adjust himself by switching back to his life in the 1990’s.

The series develops as Gary is deemed as  a secret agent. He also begins to appreciate the war years throughout the 1940’s. He only sees it for a snapshot then he returns to the present day.

On Saturday 25th June 2016 you could be like Gary as the Armed Forces Day enters the Old Post Office Buildings, Birley Street Preston.

The fun kicks off at 11.30am with a swing dance class provided by jazzswingdance.co.uk. The Leyland Brass Band will be performing all your war time favourites. Chloe Walker is expected to make a singing star attraction. You can also enjoy the 1940’s photo booth from Lancashire Infantry Museum with 1940’s makeup on offer from Creativity Works Preston.

The day is expected to conclude at approximately 3.30pm. Tickets are priced at £10 per adult. £5 for children and O.A.P’S. Plus> £15 entry for the tea party ticket. The tea party ticket includes :- finger sandwiches, pork pies, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream, cakes and fancies, tea and coffee.

All the proceeds raised will be donated to the Poppy Factory, Dig In, Brick, Armed Forces Group and The Lancashire Infantry Museum.
