Lancashire Encounter How You Can Get Involved September 2016

Jun, 10 2016

~Preston is consistently striving to up it’s game. With city competitors such as Liverpool and Manchester staging big attractions, ( Liverpool’s giant puppets and Manchester’s recently made HOME venue creating a cultural hubbub for the city centre) it’s no wonder it’s attempting something big to draw in the crowds.

Lancashire Encounter first visited Preston last year on a trial basis. Due to much  critical acclaim it’s making a welcome trip on the weekend of 23rd - 25th September this year ( 2016).

So what we can we expect with this years festival? As well as theatrical and musical performances there will also be the weekend highlight, a procession of light. Following on the work of the Preston Guild torchlight back in 2012, the procession of light will unite communities, organisations and businesses from the Lancashire district to create something quite magical.

The Procession of Light will provide a unique opportunity to showcase Lancashire’s diversity, creativity and innovation. There will also be prizes awarded for :-
*Best in the show
*Most innovative design
*Most illuminating entry.

If your interested in getting involved with the above you need to visit the www.preston.gov.uk web page,  find events and you find a link to the online form. Please complete the form  and full registration will launch towards the end of June. Cost of entry to get involved with the Procession of Light ranges from £40 ( plus VAT ) for community groups and £150 ( plus VAT ) for commercial businesses.

If your new to the format don’t’ worry they’ll be expert help and advice available on the website in due time. Look out also for workshops led by the Procession Producer.

The requirement for an entrant will be to design and create their procession concept. Each contributor will thus help in creating a truly memorable and brilliant Lancastrian exhibition.
