Celebrity Chef Opens Annual Southport Flower Show August 2016

~A long established annual event has been taking place in the North West of England for a considerable number of years now. An event which celebrates gardening in an exuberant way. It is of course The Southport Flower Show.

Tradition has it that a well known face from the world of television opens the event to a well received crowd. This year, is no exception. He may be more familiar for tossing salads than pruning hedges but Ainsley Harriott does have a penchant for gardening and he has been asked to officially open Southport Flower Show no doubt with humour and his eccentricity to the max.

Aisley is probably best known for shows such as Ready Steady Cook and most recently the Big Food Adventure he made with Len Goodman of  Strictly Come Dancing. Harriot is  swapping his pots and pans for shears and watering cans as he opens the day in style. He speaks of his joy of his role and the opportunities the day may bring,

“ I’m really excited to have been asked to appear at the famous Southport Flower Show. I’ve heard so much about it over the years and, as I’ve always been interested in gardening and growing my own vegetables and herbs, I’m hoping to pick up a few tips while I’m there”.

This years  theme throughout the flower show will be Mediterranean and will celebrate the culture, cuisine and fragrant garden of the southern European coast.

Professional master class sessions from the UK’s top gardeners will be demonstrated,including Joe Swift, Carol Klein and Christine Walkden.
Amateur growers’ competitions will be deliberated on as well. Look out for the Grand Floral Marquee, a spectacular attraction.

Other well known  chefs appearing will be Aiden Byrne and Andrew Nutter.
