2016 UCLan Student Entrepreneurship Awards- Up To £1000 To Be Won

Feb, 10 2016

The UCLan Student Entrepreneurship Award is an annual scheme for full-time, part-time, undergraduate and postgraduate students designed to help them develop a business idea or enterprise project whilst studying.  If you have graduated in the past 10 months you can apply also.

Here’s what a past winner had to say about it:

“With help from the Student Entrepreneurship Award, I have been able to create a prototype for my product idea. An added bonus is that the work I did on this project has helped me to secure a job, which will keep me going while I take the business to the next stage.” Matthew Barker, MSc Interaction Design.

You can find out more about some of last year’s winners and the impact of the award by visiting our website http://www.uclan.ac.uk/students/careers/enterprise/what-we-can-do.php

Your Student Entrepreneurship Award application should be for a realistic business idea or project proposal and individuals or groups can apply.

The award is up to £1,000 and will be paid in 2 or more instalments dependent upon the decision of the panel and compliance with the scheme rules.

The process is competitive and in two stages:

  1. Read the guidelines and complete the application form
  2. If you are shortlisted, you will be required to make a short presentation to a panel in February 2016

If you’re successful you must access UCLan’s Enterprising Students & Graduates programme for up to 6 months. You can view this here: http://bit.ly/1RfZp6x. Alternatively (by agreement), you can be supported by a tutor from your school or the Northern Lights Team.

So if you are currently studying at UCLan or have recently graduated, you are eligible to apply if you are:

• Working on a project to support voluntary organisations or a charity;
• Developing a business idea or full business proposal;
• Setting up a business or social venture
• Working on an entrepreneurial project

  • An intern seeking to test potential service improvements

Attached is the application form and guidelines. The deadline is 29th January 2016.
