Lancaster Christmas Light Switch On. Sunday November 22nd 2015

Nov, 10 2015

~Fifteen years ago soul singer Lemar was unheard of. After being a contestant on star search competition ‘Fame Academy’ in 2002 that all changed. His hits include ‘Is there any justice?’ ‘ 50/50’ and the upbeat ‘ Dance with you’.

Even further back, forty years ago, Bucks Fizz was just a cocktail drink. That was until Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston formed the pop rock band in the 1980’s. They reached the big time with tracks such as Eurovision pop ditty ‘ Making your mind up’, The Land of Make Believe’ and “My Camera Never Lies”.

Now the two acts will be part of a specially billed line up to switch on Lancaster’s Christmas lights. On Sunday November 22nd, Lancastrians will gather round the market square in the city centre.

Bucks Fizz member Bobby G will be absent in the afternoon due to legal reasons. Singer  Bobby Mcvay will take his place. Also scheduled to appear include Simon Cowell’s proteges’ in the form of Tom Mann and Barclay Beales (  X Factor’s Stereo Kicks ) and Henry Gallagher from Britain’s Got Talent.

Others acts are expected to perform such as Amy Jo Clough and Imogen Rae.

To avoid disappoint aim to get there at 2.30pm with performances from all of the above acts and more. The Christmas light switch on will initiate at 4.30pm just as it’s going dark.

Organisers of the event are expecting thousands to surround the market square area and watch their favourite pop groups/ artists present their material to the crowds. Lancaster’s Business Improvement District and The Bay Radio are the key people that have  given the go ahead for the show to take place.
