As we get older, we may consider stepping down from certain roles in our professional life yet still maintain a level of dignity with several other positions in our career.
That is true with this month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’. Let us discover more about Cheshire based Emeritus Professor Chris Pyke.
Before his educational commitments were in place, Chris was in local government where he practiced accountancy with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). Chris has been a volunteer for the Northwest Society of CIPFA for over 30 years and served as its President in 2010/11.
He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Chris’ next path took him into the educational sector where he held senior leadership roles at the following four universities –
- University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN)
- Manchester Metropolitan University
- University of Chester
- Liverpool John Moores University.
In recent years Chris became the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Justice at the University of Central Lancashire, which included the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise, Law, Policing, Social Sciences, Criminology and Public Services.
In recognition of his contribution to UCLAN he was awarded the title Emeritus Professor.
Despite his retiring role he has successfully been at the wheel at managing a digital marketing company based in Manchester and Cheshire. He works as an independent consultant and a director at Fly High Media Ltd.
As a closing statement, Chris’s ethos remains the same – to inspire others to take on educational courses. This learning method is designed to transform lives and build a better future for individuals, their families, and their communities. Throughout his career his mission has always been to help others achieve their potential.
