Spotlight on CCG Members - Lady Milena Grenfell Baines MBE - July 2022

Jul, 1 2022

Titles. We all wish we could have several if any after our name, but it’s how we project ourselves in response to receiving a title that really reveals the inner person we truly are.

This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ has a number of titles after her name but she hasn’t let that elevate her too much. Let us discover more about Preston based Lady Milena Grenfell Baines MBE.

Over 5 decades Milena has been a credible part of the city of Preston. This has seen her exchange thoughts and ideas as Chairperson of the Preston Friends of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also been at the helm of the Harris Charity as trustee and has a credible member of Preston’s Twinning Committee. In each of the three organisations she has endeavoured to bring dynamism, generosity of spirit and love of culture to her role.

Milena’s other titles cover the following –

  • Honorary Fellow at the University of central Lancashire
  • Honorary Freedom of the City of Preston
  • Patron of the Creative Communities Group UK

In fact when receiving the award for the Honorary Freedom of the City of Preston she became the 25th person to claim it.

Her other skills range from her classic cookery expertise which has helped many people throughout Preston and it’s nearby inhabitants for decades.

Ten years ago she contributed to The Young Musician of the Guild. This saw Milena promote future artists who are no doubt successful in their career path now.

Yes. Titles can bring a measure of prestige and pride but it’s how we respond, as Milena did using her humility to act in behalf of others not just for herself.
