New Independent Lifestyle store opens in Preston

New Independent Lifestyle store opens in Preston

Dec, 31 2021

There is a lot to be said for independent retail shops. They offer something unique compared to the more commercially based stores you see on the high street.

A new lifestyle shop supporting independent makers has opened off Friargate in Preston city centre.

Once Was Lost is tucked away  in the hidden and forgotten cottages of Market Street Social. The creative force behind the concept is Oliver White and Rebecca Rowlands. Their long term vision is to provide Preston with a competitive retail space to ensure they are on the same level as bigger cities such as Manchester and Liverpool.

Although it’s an independent driven motive, the stores isn’t afraid to promote a heavy focus on conscious style whilst  bringing some original products to the city.

Rebecca, who is one of the co-founders of Plau Gin and Beer House/Market Street Social expressed the importance of independent retail within the confines of the high street,

“Preston is an exciting and developing city with lots of new fantastic hospitality venues opening daily. However, independent retail is lacking, and we wanted to give the city an exciting new offer to encourage people back into Preston again”.

The store will offer the following :-
  • Locally sourced ceramics from Vonde Muse and Artist Poulton
  • Soy wax candles by Cicley and May
  • Locally made soaps by Winckley Square Soap Company
  • Bust station art prints by local photographer Ash Hardman
  • Vinyl records by local record label Them, There Records
  • Plants, stationery, greetings cards and so much more.
Once Was Lost is located at 133, Market Street West, Preston, PR1, 2HB. The entrance is via Market Street Social and the store is open Tuesday - Sunday.
