Preston musician set to release new album of inward reflection

Oct, 24 2021

Bob Dylan is a highly successful musician who first came into the music scene in the 1960’s. As a natural storyteller he  caused  quite a stir in the folk world and his music has inspired a league of musicians ever since.

Now, he could be about to have a new successor in line. Preston based singer songwriter David Shurr was busy during the lockdown period carving out his unique lyrical gems.

His music is best described as:-
  • Poetic lyricism
  • Jangling guitars
  • Psyche- swirling melodies
  • Tea towel covered drumbeat
His South- Eastern Asia upbringing has  helped him create such a compelling listen. This is found on forthcoming 12 track album ‘Under the Head’ which took a period of inward reflection to compose.

David explains the creative process,

“Last year when the world slowed down, I found myself looking inwards and remembering the past.

I see my friendships shift in shape, my relationships ebb and flow and the ground I’m standing on is moving beneath my feet.

This record is an introspective dive, pinpointing the moment I recognised a consistency within me that fights to contradict my life in stasis. Beneath the skin’s deep layers, there is an engine - sometimes idle but never stalling. This motor propels me with a musical momentum. It compels me to speak my truth - words encircled in melody”.

Under the Hood features:-
  • Percussion - Aidan Poland
  • Vocals - Sanja Cin
  • Keyboards and synthesiser  loan - Matt G
  • Engineered - David McLaughlin
David speaks highly of the musicians that took part in making the record,

“ We all walk a path, but rarely do we watch where we are going. Without these individuals’ advice and collaboration, I would never have achieved what, for me, is a monumental line in the sand along the shores of my dream world”.

David’s album ‘Under The Hood’ is released Saturday October 30th 2021.
