Preston drummer creates book for children

In 1983 English rock band Genesis released the epic song ‘Mama’. It was known for it’s dynamic drum sound and lyrically it sees Phil Collins hollering out to his mother like a young child.

Mark Whiteside is a local musician who sights the aforementioned band as one of his influences. He is known for hitting the skins for his group Evil Blizzard.

Recently however, he has developed an interest in writing in particular for children. This found Mark creating the book The Car Gnome. The story is based on memories from childhood and has been in Mark’s mind for many years prior to writing the book.

Throughout lockdown 2020, Mark completed the story but he needed a publisher. He was also in search of credible artist to enhance the overall look and tone of the book.

Eventually he found Gizelle Molnar who lives local to Mark. He was already familiar with her work and was delighted when she agreed to come on board with the creative project.

In 2021, Mark has a strong network of friends a reliable publisher at Sixth Element Publishing. He reflects on the fantastic response to his artistic endeavours,

“I’m amazed at how people have got behind this. After only an hour we had sold 30 books. That may not seem a lot in the realms of books but for me and Zel that is amazing”.
