Bubble Man Helps Poorly Children

Sometimes the things we do to please our children can develop into something greater and even shape the lives of  those that are unwell. 

 

A young man named Ray experimented with his bubble making skills with his two children. As time progressed he realised he had a real talent and so, for the past ten years he has been perfecting his skills of bubble making by going round to many parks and schools  and  putting  on fantastic displays of giant and unique bubbles.

 

Ray’s visit to Derian House was pivotal step in his life. It was something that he hopes was a 'special moment' for them.

 

He spoke of the honour he had of performing there, 

 

“If I didn’t get that reward, if I didn’t enjoy what I was doing I wouldn’t do it. The reward I get from the kids is just incredible.”. 

 

Due to Covid restrictions and risks to the vulnerable children, Derian House hasn’t been able to welcome in many visitors as they would have done before. 

 

Thankfully, Ray’s creations are an outdoor attraction so the team at Derian House gladly accepted his offer to come and entertain the children. 

 

Katie McNally, wellbeing and play leader welcomed Ray’s offer to the centre, 

 

“As a hospice we provide wellbeing and play activities for the children while they are here on respite. With the restrictions and with us being within a health setting, we haven’t had many visitors over the past 18 months, but luckily this was an outdoor activity. It was good fun and it was nice to have someone come and visit because we’ve not had anyone visit for a while”. 

 

Derian House Children’s Hospice is located on Chancery Road, Astley Village, Chorley, Lancashire, PR7, 1DH. 

Ray’s bubbles can also be seen in parks in Lancashire such as Astley park and in local schools.
