Age group 40+ and those with health problems being offered the jab
May, 11 2021
The end is in sight, hugs are returning and social conveniences are entering our lives once again. But let’s not get too complacent. There is a large majority of the UK that still haven’t been vaccinated but now a specific age group will be able to.
All Prestonians aged 40 + are now able to book their Covid-19 jab as part of the fantastic scheme the NHS have initiated since December last year.
You can book an appointment between the hours of 8am till 8pm seven days a week from any of the seven large vaccination centres across the Lancashire and South Cumbria district.
The first doses for anyone aged 40+ will be determined in the following four ways:-
- Has a learning disability
- Is clinically vulnerable
- Clinically extremely vulnerable
- An unpaid carer.
Appointments can be done online via the National Booking System
( www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccine) or by calling 119.
Covid-19 Vaccination Director for Lancashire and South Cumbria Jane Scattergood explains the radical scheme and the importance of having the jab,
“The rapid rollout of the NHS vaccination programme, the swiftest in Europe, is down to months of careful planning and sheer hard work by nurses, doctors and countless other staff supported by our incredible volunteers. If you’re eligible for the vaccine please do book your appointment as soon as possible, so that you can join the millions of others who are helping to protect themselves and others and continue our progress back towards a normal life”.
A figure of 938,000 people have been protected with a least one dose in Lancashire and South Cumbria since the winter of 2020. This makes almost 70% of the adult population.
The second jab will help residents receive the best possible protection in combating themselves from the deadly Covid-19.
The NHS are offering three vaccines, these include :-
They have all been proven to be safe and effective by the world - leading medical regulator of the MHRA.
If you’re aged 40+ and you tick any of the boxes mentioned earlier then don’t delay, this could be your chance to start living again.
