New take on Tinkerbell and the calling for local writers to get involved

New take on Tinkerbell and the calling for local writers to get involved

May, 10 2021

We all know the classic children’s story of Peter Pan but little has been told about the origins of his favourite fairy Tinkerbell.

Thanks to the creative team at Preston Live Arts Festival much more is soon to be revealed in a new musical which will capture the magic of the much loved fable and deliver a unique perspective of the little fairy.

Organisers are looking for musical theatre book writers or script writers to develop a storyboard interwoven with a variety of songs. The successful writer will work with French music and lyrics writing duo- Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal and Julien Salvia.

Tom Benyon, Development Producer at Selladoor - delivery partner on Preston Live Arts Festival explained the concept behind creating a musical around the treasured fairy,

“Despite being a household name, there is much that is unknown about Tinkerbell and how she came to be in Neverland. We want to explore and empower the character of Tink and how the smallest creatures can have the biggest impact on the world if they believe in themselves and are believed in by others”.

An intensive three day workshop will be welcomed by the successful candidate who will be commissioned and invited to join in a writers room with Julien and Ludovic and the Selladoor development team. They will be asked to develop a collective treatment based on their initial structured idea.

If the final product wins the smile of approval from everyone involved this could  lead to more work in the future.
