Exciting plans will transform an area of Preston

Jan, 19 2021

In approximately a year from now we could be living in post COVID world. It may however take several more years for life to return to some kind of normality. Yet, despite these uncertain times ambitious plans are being discussed to transform an area of Preston.

Just recently a planning application was submitted to create a grand education centre as part of the Phoenix Park master plan.

Here are some of the highlights organisers are excited to develop:-
  • A dry ski slope
  • An education centre for Pioneer Tec students
  • Student accommodation
  • Leisure facility
  • New sports pitches
  • Go-karts
  • Motocross
  • Surfing
Car parking and compound will be used in conjunction with existing training and leisure facilities on site. It will be an environmentally friendly complex so renewable energy sources will be used throughout all activities. This therefore means pursuits such as go karts will use electric replacements instead of petrol powered motocross.

Plans are also underfoot to create a series of wind turbines to provide sufficient energy throughout the complex.

Work will commence in 2022 and owner Eddie Sloane revealed how the education centre is one part of his vision for the Phoenix Park site spanning the site at Wallend Road just down from the Preston Docks and the banks of the River Ribble.

The buildings that currently remain will be destroyed in order to pave the way for a dynamic Pioneer Training and Education Centre. It will stand as the main focus with a ski slope on site and a mountain biking track to the side.

The Pioneer Building will serve as a modern, residential education and training centre catered especially for young people who are placed in the looked after care system or have been excluded from their most recent school.

Interested ones will be pleased to learn that there will also be a small retail area where you can readily buy bikes and motorcycle based equipment.
