Kick Down The Barriers

Kick Down The Barriers

Oct, 23 2020

Recall if you will the saying ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’. That expression travels through the mind of  someone who has just been verbally or even physically abused by  their appearance. The overall look of a local city or town can also portray a negative veneer in the eyes of an individual who cannot see beyond first impression.

For the past 12 months the people of Blackburn have collaborated together to explore segregated communities. This has been developed through a series of mediums including engaged arts practice and written enquiry and research.

The end product is ‘Kick Down the Barriers’ a creative blueprint for the next generation. It’s aim is to  strip away the stigmas that have given Blackburn a bad name in a culturally sophisticated and articulately designed way.

The exhibition is running now until Saturday 21st November 2020 at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery. The museum is open to the public Wednesday - Saturday (12pm -4.45pm.)
