Spotlight on CCG Members - Dr. Anthony Kearns - October 2020

Oct, 7 2020

Have you ever watched some of our best loved medical shows and wondered, ‘How are the actors and actresses so proficient at their game?’ This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ will shed some light on the matter, Lancashire based Dr. Anthony Kearns.

Brought up in Stafford Anthony began his career in the NHS as a Healthcare Assistant in Hospitals & Nursing Homes. This environment inspired him to take on nursing more seriously which gave him an RN Dip HE.

Further studying at Liverpool University on a medical training course saw him triumph with an MB ChB in 2001.

But the work didn’t stop there. To complete his studying he needed to finalise his junior attachments. Now he was ready to carve a successful career in Emergency Medicine which he has committed full time for the past 12 years.

His work has seen him the following three places:-

  • South Yorkshire
  • Merseyside
  • Lancashire

All this experience and knowledge has meant Anthony can channel his skills in other areas of his life. When the cameras aren’t rolling Anthony is on set as a Medical Advisor. This has seen him provide expert advice and analysis on health related storylines. He works at both Emmerdale on the ITV and Casualty on the BBC.

Away from the theatre room, Anthony has had educational positions both past and present. He was the school governor for Blackpool and he currently resides as an Honorary Teacher at Liverpool University.

In 2020 Anthony’s current title is Head of Department for Emergency Medicine at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. We can only  imagine the intensity of such a role especially at the moment under the current climate.

We warmly welcome Dr Anthony Kearns to the CCG and we look forward to seeing how much we can learn from your expertise.
