Aug, 5 2020

To find work based employment on the social sector means you’ll need to be an outgoing kind of person and have the ability to interact with a series of people in a number of different situations. That’s precisely what this month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG  Members’ has successfully achieved. Let us learn more about Mr. Stephen Sloss.

Stephen started out his social care career working with young people who suffered with serious mental health problems. For a further ten years Stephen changed his line of work to specialise with children prior to committing to all age social work and eventually becoming the Strategic Director of Adult Social Care.

In 2010 Stephen co-founded Salvare, a community interest company and social enterprise focused on:-

  • Personalisatiom
  • Self service
  • Platform solutions
  • Brokerage
  • Direct payments
  • Advice
  • Support planning.

He is currently the CEO at Salvere.  The company has developed over the last decade and focuses it’s attention in the Lancashire and Wigan district helping people with community brokerage and citizen directed support. You can find out more information by logging onto the following website:- www.salvere.co.uk

As well as working at Salvere Stephen also works for Skills for Care as the Director and Trustee. Skills for Care operates as an employer led authority on the training standards and workforce development needs of social care staff in England.

His interest people speaks volumes and is apparent when we learn that he is a social worker and an associate of the Association of Director of Adult Social Services.

In 2012 Stephen and several work colleagues had the special privilege of being able to initiate what is now a very alive website online – The UCLAN Creative Communities Group.  This organization effectively does the following:-

  • Empower people
  • Locally
  • Nationally
  • Internationally

For positive change through volunteering and community engagement.

We’re delighted to have Stephen on board with us as we continue to learn about this excellent entrepreneur in social enterprise, social care and health.
