Support with returning to sport

Support with returning to sport

Jul, 23 2020

In response to the recent pandemic people may feel a degree of apprehension about returning to their previous activities.

One area is Sport. Sport England has revealed that as an organisation people’s participation in any form of physical activity has been severely affected in light of the corona virus.

To understand more about what this could mean for the clubs, groups and organisations who exercise regularly, Club Matters are launching the national Sport England Club Matters Return to Sport / Activity surveys.

The surveys are designed to help you determine how you feel about returning to sport either as an organised setting or as part of a club or group.

You can view two of the following surveys by accessing this link online:-
https://www.activelancashire.org.uk/media-centre/share-your-thoughts-club-matters-national-survey
  • Participants Survey
  • Volunteers Survey
Please note :- The survey will be open until Friday 7th August.

By taking part in the above surveys you will be one of many who will help Sport England  discover people’s willingness to return to activity/volunteering, the challenges they face, what they are most looking forward to, and how they can best be supported to come back when the time is right.

The surveys are aimed to support the following categories:-

Participants and Volunteers:-
By sharing the survey with members, participants and volunteers you will show an active involvement which will help to raise awareness of individual views and needs which will be heard and reflected in the wider database that will later be developed.

Clubs, Groups and Organisations:
The identifying areas of the survey will reveal the growing concerns of the needs and views of members, participants and volunteers across the country. Open text questions will help to expand on how people are thinking and feeling. The Sport England and Club Matter teams will use professional analysis tools which  will hone in on key themes and specific issues. These research methods will provide informed support to the clubs and groups they work with.

NGBs, APs and Other Sector Organisations:
The data received to The Club Matters teams will be collected to identify key findings and trends to develop recommendations. The team will then share overview and categorised in-depth reports with stakeholder organisations. This will enable them to explore the main findings as well as benchmark data across sports and activities, which can be used to inform internal planning, ongoing support and future resources across the sector!

Club Matters would really appreciate any support in providing the links to clubs, groups and organisations across the country and across all the different sports and activities available.

They have shared Club Matters' communications material with their stakeholder organisations already, including the social media posts template, but if you would like more information about sharing the survey with clubs and groups you work with please email  them at: clubmatters@sportengland.org
