Figures in from last week - Lock-down is not over

Jul, 7 2020

Ok so we’re getting our hair done and enjoying a nice pint in our local pub but let me remind you that lockdown is far from over so now is not the time to become complacent.

Figures were in last Thursday ( July 2nd ) as the nation was about to indulge in pleasurable pursuits again.

The statistics read as follows:-
  • Parts of Yorkshire and the north-west of England have recorded the highest rates of new corona virus infections, according to new data.
  • Bedford, the only top 10 place other than Leicester not in the north, has seen its rate of new cases fall by half in a week
  • Leicester, however, remains far ahead of the others, with three times as many new cases per 100,000 people as Bradford.
All but two of the top 10 areas for rates of infection in the week ending 28 June saw a fall compared with the week before, Public Health England reported.

The new data combines two sets of corona virus tests - those done in hospitals and involving care workers and previously unpublished local figures on tests outside of hospitals.

Just this morning a news bulletin confirmed that a series of pubs have had to close once again due to a sudden rise in corona virus cases.

So please be careful, these statistics reveal that the lockdown is not over and those that are convinced this is all one big hoax are simply fooling themselves. People are ill, people are dying, people have died. This is not some summer boot camp we’ve all unwillingly signed up for, this is a genuine emergency and it’s affecting all our lives, the people we love and cherish.

2020 is the year we’d all like to forget.
