Drive in Cinemas and Live Shows Making it's Way to the North West of England

Drive in Cinemas and Live Shows Making it's Way to the North West of England

Jun, 21 2020

New wave and punk artist Gary Numan had a 1979 hit with the song ‘Cars’. In the opening verse he sang the following lyrics:-

“Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars.”

Now 41 years after it’s release Gary’s comfort from his car is reaching a whole new audience.

Three months ago we all began an unusual way of living. The entertainment industry in particular had it’s world turned upside down. This included theatres, cinemas and concerts.

Musician and company director Max Fox was initially stumbled but after several brainstorming sessions, he and his team came up with a new – yet decidedly old-fashioned—idea. To take the Drive-in Cinema experience and apply it to live shows in a safe way.

Almost two months ago the planning process began into this new and innovative way to watch gigs. This has culminated in what you’re about to experience this coming week. International Shows LTD are proud to broadcast to you ‘Safe- Events’ a new company that will bring you  a unique set of live entertainment to Valiants Farm, Lancaster Road, Preston.

As already mentioned you’ll be in the comfort of your  car and you’ll be able to hear the outside music on stage transmitted through your  radio. A considerable amount of thought and attention to detail  has gone into the planning and preparation of this concept.

Company Director Max, explains what you will need to do and how you will receive the music,

“Customers will purchase a ticket on our website, be scanned in with their QR code by a member of staff wearing PPE equipment, and be ushered to a place at our outdoor venue where they can enjoy the show. The concert will be completely unamplified. Guests will tune into an FM frequency where they will be able to hear the show live from within their vehicles.”
Six days a week you’ll be able to see a fantastic line up of popular tribute artists mixed with some great comedians billed for afternoon and evening events.

It’s hoped this will bring back the fun we’ve all been missing since lockdown to the following three areas:-
  • Preston
  • Blackpool
  • The wider NorthWest
This in turn will create jobs and support local businesses.

When Gary Numan wrote the song ‘Cars’ in 1979 he was referring to how people use technology and material goods to isolate themselves from human contact. Now, some four decades later that interpretation is mirroring the classic song as the audience sit glued in their car to prevent the virus spreading further.

Max has these concluding words of optimism in light of the recent news,

“We have partnered with a leading production company, who will leave no stone unturned to give customers the same experience as they would receive at a festival. The idea of cinema screenings has been done before across America, but performing live shows is a really exciting concept that we can’t wait to bring to life to cheer people up, whilst also staying safe.”

Tickets for the events are available by going to their website,
( https://www.safe-events.co.uk/)with multiple shows being added on a daily basis.
