Preston Photography Society Creates Online Gallery

Preston Photography Society Creates Online Gallery

Jun, 8 2020

When you look back in history some of the most iconic images were captured on  camera. It’s true to say that the still image remains one of the most powerful and moving pieces of art in the modern era.

The Preston Photographic Society is based at Moor Park Sports and Social Club on Blackpool Road. Talks, events and competitions are held throughout the year to encourage members to keep taking unique and captivating pictures.

This time of year would normally have been their busiest but with lockdown putting a holt on  the proceedings it has meant members have taken precautionary measures when it comes to their artistic activities.

Organisers felt an online gallery would be suitable given the current climate.

Society vice-president Michael Porter  expressed these words of optimism in response to the gallery,

“Usually we’d be holding our annual exhibition of photographs in the city. But for obvious reasons we can’t this year so we thought we’d create the virtual gallery. I hope people enjoy a flick through the pictures. There’s some fantastic pictures by our members.”
