Penwortham Live Takes On a Whole New Concept

Almost a decade ago a local live music event was established which embraced community spirit in support of talented musicians. 
‘Penwortham Live’ has delivered on it’s title- to showcase local talent on the outskirts of Preston, Lancashire. 
 
This year, however it’s been affected by the corona virus outbreak and is  having to resort to a virtual experience which will initiate this evening.  ‘Living Room Live’ is coming to your homes tonight ( Friday 15th May) and tomorrow (Saturday 16th May). Organisers are featuring performances from acts across the decades by local favourites. 
 
Nigel Stewart from Creative Network, one of the creators of the event, speaks retrospectively and in the present climate, 
 
“When we started Penwortham Live nearly ten years ago, it was all about people – our people, our community, our values; that remains the case now. In the midst of this situation, we want to bring people together to celebrate what we share in South Ribble through the power of live music.”
 
The event will take place from 7pm each day. Here is the complete iteinery:-
 
Friday 15 May
7pm–7.30pm: Mark Todd with classic rock covers
7.30pm–8pm: Amy Hardy with show tunes
8pm–8.30pm: Russ Weaver with easy listening acoustic covers
8.30pm–9pm: Nick Spencer with acoustic rock covers
9pm–9.30pm: David Lawrie (from Roger’s Codgers) with a selection from his
favourite songwriters and performers
9.30pm–10pm: Catherine Sullivan with 50s, 60s and easy listening
10pm–10.30pm: Peter James with golden oldies
10.30pm–11pm: Yoz Hindley with acoustic rock and pop
 
Saturday 16 May
7pm–7.30pm: Glyn Shipman with original acoustic material
7.30pm–8pm: Raggedy Rooster with quirky, happy punk originals
8pm–8.30pm: Sarah Beattie with her own acoustic-based songs
8.30pm–9pm: Michael Towler with 60s and 70s covers
9pm–9.30pm: Hungry Bentley with rock and pop originals and covers
9.30pm–10pm: Connor Banks with modern rock and pop
10pm–10.30pm: White Noise Experience with original music plus Public Service film footage (sound and light experience)
10.30pm–11pm: Dee Vah with sequins, showbiz and razzle dazzle
 
Councillor Aniela Bylinski Gelder, South Ribble Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, Social Justice and Wealth Building, expresses these words of joy in response to the event, 
 
“It’s incredible how everyone has come together to make sure we can all still enjoy fantastic music – even if it is from the comfort of our own homes. This is set to be a great event and I can’t wait to watch all of the performances at home this weekend. I hope you all can join in!”
