The Harris Looking For Stories On Social Distancing For It's Archives

Apr, 17 2020

~If your grandparents are still alive they’ll recall the horrors of the wars they’ve lived through and how it became a piece of history they’ll never forget.

In our day it appears social distancing will become something we’ll be recalling in years to come.

The Harris in Preston is collecting video submissions of people talking about their experiences for its Memory Maker project, so historians of the future can study them.

A spokesperson for The Harris is encouraging Prestonians to take part,

“We are living through a historical event right now – something that will be talked about for decades to come – and we need your help to record it for the future. We’d like you to send us a video of yourself talking about your experiences of what life is like social distancing in Preston at this strange time”.

The films collaborated will be added to the Harris collection for the historians of the future to study. Those that wish to submit films will be selected to be available on The Harris website on an individual basis or as part of a long film.

The Harris is asking participants to include thoughts about:-

  • How life has changed
  • What they are grateful for
  • What they are most looking forward to when normality resumes.

A new project by The Harris is aiming to record Prestonians’ thoughts on what life is like during the coronavirus pandemic.
