Another Event Has Reaped The Wrath Of The Corona Virus

Apr, 17 2020

~An event which usually brings joy and happiness, music and dance and colour and costume, has had to be postponed.

The annual Preston Caribbean Carnival was due to take place in a couple of months time, the weekend of Saturday 6th - Sunday 7th June.

Moor Park would have played host to the event which has been an integral part of Preston life for more than 40 years.

A statement from the Carnival committee reads as follows,

“Our lives have all been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic which is currently not only a UK but a global issue. We have therefore decided that in the best interest of everyone involved the Preston Caribbean Carnival weekend events are being postponed. We are looking to have this important multicultural event at a date later in the year, when it was be safe to bring our diverse Preston community and visitors from Lancashire and other regions, together for Preston Caribbean Carnival 2020”.

The Carnival organisers want to thank in particular the following  three categories:-

  1. Paraders
  2. Stall holders
  3. Performers

Please note :- All tickets already purchased for the One Park festival planned for the Saturday will remain valid for the rescheduled date.

The message is clear and simple. Be vigilant in responding to the governments advice. Be thorough when it comes to washing your hands and take note of areas where you can follow the guidelines of social distancing. Above all be kind to one another and stay safe.

One of Preston’s longest-running cultural events has been postponed due to coronavirus.
