~We all come from different walks of life. We may be of a different race or ethnicity. We may have a sexual orientation which at times can prove a challenge. Or we may be a senior citizen and face an onslaught of hate crime due to our age and  disability.

Whatever the circumstances we all want to feel liked and appreciated. Preston is a community that has a vast mix of people but an event which helps to reduce stigmas, prejudice and the overall embracing of each other should definitely be promoted.

From Monday 16th- Saturday 28th March The 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Festival is coming to Preston.

On the opening day an exhibition is planned at UCLAN’S Hanover Project Gallery at the Hanover Building, Preston Campus. It is scheduled to take place from 9am - 5pm.

Organised by Suely Ludgero Newlove the exhibition will feature work from two leading artists in their field of expertise:-

  • Jade Monserrat constructs challenging physical and intense performances.
  • Dr Aruna Mene creates vibrant exotic fabric collages.

In addition a carnival will be on show at the Preston Flag Market over a two day period. This will take place on the Thursday 19th and Saturday 21st March. A live art piece will be presented by Jade Monserrat entitled ‘Love. Love?’ Audiences will feel challenged in this physical and intense performance.

The carnival is organised by Jon Aveyard and Suely in which they have planned a programme covering the following three things:-

  1. A variety of workshops
  2. Dance and music performances
  3. Stalls with international food.

Admission is completely free and no booking is required.
