~They say ‘there’s nowt traditional as a good owd song”.  And when the song is sung in a Lancashire dialect it adds to the authenticity of the singer especially if they’re from that neck of the woods.

Sid Calderbank has been a native dialect speaker for the past 30 years. During this time he has been researching and collecting songs, stories and poems of old Lancashire which, after much  careful thought and consideration  sees him perform them  at a select series of events. These include folk and art festivals and local clubs.

He’ll be coming to Longton WI Hall, School Lane, Preston on Thursday 5th March 2020 in what is being billed as “ Songs, Poems and Stories with Sid Calderbank”.

Sid will have a 45 minute set with his onstage performance scheduled for 1pm -1.45pm. Doors open from 12:45pm.Tickets cost £5. You can buy them online, simply visit the following website address:-We Got Tickets - Songs, Poems and Stories with Sid Calderbank.

Throughout his career he has been a member of numerous organisations. Currently he is an active member of the Edwin Waugh Society. The Lancashire Society and help and support from Cock Robin Music has enabled him to record everything he does for posterity, "to keep it from oblivion". He hopes his efforts will help to preserve our ancient language for future generations.

The KTB Music Lunchtime Recital series welcomes celebrated local Lanky dialect specialist Sid Calderbank for an afternoon of unique
