Location: Sheffield | UK

“Hugo is a Mauritian-born medical student at the University of Central Lancashire, doing an intercalated MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Sheffield. Interested in bridging the gap between neuroscience and psychiatry, Hugo has created and lead a successful lecture series titled “The Neuroscience of Psychiatry”, where he teaches an audience that includes medical students, Psychiatric consultants, and PhD candidates. He was also a speaker at the South Yorkshire Grand Round (Neuroscience Update) on the 6th of July 2022, where he introduced doctors in various stages of training to the concept of Computational Psychiatry, with an emphasis on its paradigm-shifting potential.

As a strong believer in the biopsychosocial model of health, he has also been involved in several projects engaging with the wider society, such as his experience as School President of the UCLan School of Medicine, or Vice President of the UCLan Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières society. Along these lines, Hugo aims to support the Creative Communities Group in its endeavours, with the end goal of fostering an uplifting community for people of all walks of life.”
