I have worked in the NHS since 1991 and prior to retiring from the NHS, I worked as consultant anaesthetist/intensivist at the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for over a decade.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Member of the Academy of Medical Educators. I am also a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College Surgeons of England for the Intercollegiate MRCS Examination. I was General Medical Council associate and member of the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service. I was undergraduate examiner for the University of Manchester’s school of medicine and trained PBL facilitator/communication skills tutor.

I have worked with international medical graduates and have experience of teaching, training, mentoring and assessing medical undergraduates, postgraduates and other healthcare professionals in the UK and overseas.

My interests include patient safety and human factors.

As a member of the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing, I work to improve the health and wellbeing awareness in the community and empower people to take control of their health. I also assist in supervising health assessments during Health MOTs. In recognition of my contribution, I was awarded Fellowship of the NFHW.
