My name is Coach Kieran the founder of award winning and OFSTED registered FUNDA and the Expert Children's Coach.
I have always wanted to become a professional footballer from a verry young age, I tried so hard to make it pro and this is everything I ever wanted. I played for Lancashire, my local town team and even had regional trials for England where I got scouted for Burnley Football Club.
It was the week before my professional trial at Burnley Football Club when I was involved in an horrific car accident that changed the course of my life. It was 2:00am in the morning when my mum knocked on my bedroom door, sat at the bottom of my bed and said to me “sorry son the little old lady has passed away”. This was a complete accident that changed the course of my life...
I turned to education attending college and university (UCLan) I studied so hard and I started to really create the hunger for learning. My time studying was so hard given the fact that I’m dyslexic and I really struggled at school. I progressed through college and university and passed out with my degree in high performance coaching and child development.
I was then offered a full time job as a professional academy coach at Bolton Wanderes Football Club, where I then turned down this amazing opportunity at the time because In my heart I still wanted to become a professional footballer and I still thought I could make it pro.
A few weeks passed by and I attended a new module at the end of my studies called a certificate new business enterpirse, this really started to trigger the right side of my brain being the creator that I am and thought me basic business skills at the time.
Then one night I woke up in bed with a light bulb moment and started to jot down and brainstorm new creative ideas and wanted to use my degree and everything I have learnt so far to it's full potential. I just wanted to give something back and make a difference to children every day, new ways other than just football and sport that will engage early years and primary school children, boy or girl aged 2-11 years this idea was called FUNDA!
>> Today 1 in 4 children leaving primary school are obese.
>> Primary schools are only taking part in 2 hours of quality physical education or activity lessons per week.
>> Most schools are focusing on old fasioned sport and competition that does not engage every child.
>> To many children are playing computer games and spending far to much time on their mobile tablets and not becoming sociable with friends and their family.
FUNDA is on a mission to make a difference to children, teachers and parents everyday. FUNDA has been established for 9 years and now employs 20 full time staff, has delivered in over 165+ primary schools across the North West. FUNDA reaches out to 35,000 children every week.
FUNDA Is award winning, OFSTED Registered and just this recenlty we have had the previlidge to receive a visit from HM the Queen.
It has been a real struggle to set up my business FUNDA and I would really like to share my FUNDA vision and values with you and how our unique apporach and educational resources get children, teachers and parents ACTIVE!
I really do want to reach out to children and young people, teachers and parents, give something back and this is why I have published a book which is available now to pre-order on Amazon.
