Richard is the former non-executive Director and former Group Chief Executive at the University of Central Lancashire. Richard is Chairman of Vanmar Shipping and a non-executive Director at the Anglo Eastern Univan Group, at Swire's China Navigation Company. He has built a career over 40 years within the international shipping industry where he has held a variety of senior executive positions. Richard started his career in shipping in 1975 as a labourer at Scotts of Bowling, a Clydeside shipyard. Richard believes in conveying positive energy and enthusiasm for life to others whenever possible, both in business and in family life.
