Ebrahim has a national and international profile and brings to the CCG a wealth of experience, serving as Chair and member of a number of high-profile boards

He was a local Councillor in Bolton where he previously held the Children's Services Executive Cabinet portfolio with responsibility for education, safeguarding and children in care. He was the Executive Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Resources with responsibility for council finance, the budget planning process, performance management, human resources and organisational development, ICT, customer relations, economy, employment and skills, town centres and key development sites, housing services, planning, the anti-poverty strategy, the voluntary sector, cohesion, youth, leisure and sport. He was the former joint Vice-Chair of NHS Bolton.

He was appointed as a Commissioner on the Commisison on Integration and Cohesion by the Secretary of State for Communites and Local Government in 2006.  The report produced by the Commisison 'Our Shared Futures' continues to influence public policy in Britain.
