Formed in 2001 as the Lancashire Gujarat Health Users’ Forum, the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing specialises in helping local communities to take greater responsibility for protecting and managing their own health. The Forum is based at the Gujarat Hindu Society in Preston and is supported by a variety of NHS Trusts, councils, universities, voluntary groups and private enterprises. It has a variety of roles but is best known for organising a growing programme of Health Mela events, which enable families and individuals to get valuable professional healthcare advice in a friendly and informative environment.
