Where do I start? Well, I have a strong belief in people. We are living in a time of great change, yet with such change comes great opportunities and responsibility. Developing ourselves and others can and will make a difference. I won't let a day go by without having a positive engagement with my students, clients, family and friends. I am sure all of us have seen the amazing benefits of having been part of developing someone to their full potential.
I have had quite a ride so far. I managed to pick up four degrees and am working hard to complete a Doctorate in Elite Performance. I am a qualified coach and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I've recently become accredited in Belbin Team Roles, MBTI, and the Richard Lewis cultural model. My son told me that he was more impressed by my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award; I have to admit it was more fun than undertaking the degrees. To be honest all of these experiences pale into insignificance when compared to being a dad; now that's a positive learning experience!
Currently I work in the field of Intercultural Communication, coaching, and Optimum leadership/ team building training. I have a fascination in workplace psychology and hope to complete another MSc, in Psychology.
I am published, and have presented papers across the globe. I have also found time for some significant grant capture.
And the day job....I am a Senior Lecturer at UCLan on the BA (Hons) and MA programmes in International Business Communication. I have also been instrumental in setting up new opportunities for UCLan across Europe. It's a great intercultural mix of students all with their own tales to tell and exciting futures ahead of them. I have recently become a freelance trainer within my field.
In short, life is good!
