Swrajit is a member of the Nutrition Society, a full member of the Society of Biology (MSB) and fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health (FRSPH). His educational background includes a BSc in Biosciences major in Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Masters by Research (MRes) in Public Health Nutrition and a three year doctoral programme in Public Health Nutrition. He has also worked as an associate of the University of Greenwich, where he has worked for three years in higher education teaching and demonstration. His key research has been in the field of non-communicable diseases risk identification among South Asian Communities living in the United Kingdom, although he has a broader interest in nutrition-related non-communicable diseases in developing countries and the impact of the nutrition transition on NCD prevalence. He is a member of the Africa Nutrition Society (ANS) and has assisted the ANS in organising conferences (ANEC) in Kenya and South Africa. Summary of his core work include:

  • 5 years involvement in the development of an integrated approach to public health nutrition research through his work and training in the United Kingdom. He has also designed a Glycemic Index Reference Guide from Composite recipes Targeted at Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients of South Asian background living in the United Kingdom.
  • 3 years involvement in the development and facilitation of biology-based workshop training of school and college students and teachers in the UK
  • 3 years experience of assisting Undergraduate and Master’s level research student with study designs and the research process in UK University
  • 3 years experience assisting in the organisation and management of scientific conferences including ANEC IV in Nairobi, Kenya, ANEC V in Bloemfontein, South Africa
