Sister Act Junior

Last year Sister Act celebrated it’s 30th anniversary. It follows the story of Deloris Van Cartier played by Whoopi Goldberg who eventually becomes Sister Mary Clarence as a lounge singer forced to join a convent after being placed in a witness protection program.

She wakes up her fellow nuns into action and they develop into a singing tour de force. Following it’s release it became one of the most financially successful comedies of the early 1990’s.

This year marks 30 years since it’s sequel, the aptly named Sister Act 2- Back in the Habit arrived at cinemas. Three decades later and it’s enjoyed a good run in theatres as a musical adaptation.

 Sister Act Junior will be performed in full at The Grand venue – Clitheroe from Friday 9th- Saturday 10th June 2023. On the Friday doors open 6pm and two performances on Saturday, a matinee at 1pm and an evening performance from 6.30pm.

Now in 2023 a third film is in development for Disney+. If it follows in the similar path to the previous two it will be another blockbuster smash with Whoopi returning to the leading role and a series of classic tracks given the Sister Act makeover.
