John Power - Acoustic

In 1986 Liverpudlian musician John Power started his career as bassist and backing vocalist for indie group The La’s.  They had a number of hit singles most notably, ‘There she goes’. The band split in 1991 and the following year Cast was formed.

Cast were synonymous for being part of the Britpop movement of the mid 1990’s. Their biggest selling album to date was their 1995 debut ‘All Change’. However, as their music progressed the songs dried up until the band called it a day in 2001.

John’s record label Polydor offered him a lucrative contract as a solo musician but at that moment his 1996 single ‘Walkaway’ rang true as he wanted to leave the music business altogether.

However, a change of heart came a couple of years later when he released his first solo record in June 2003. This year marks 20 years as solo artist and within that time The La’s reformed and split up again and his 90’s indie outfit Cast also returned to the music scene.

On Friday 10th March 2023 John Power is bringing an acoustic set to Darwen Library Theatre from 7pm.
